Alternative rock is latest thing to hit America's radios, and it's easily the best music out there. Here are some of the coolest album covers of CDs I've purchased at K-Mart:

Alice In Chains Alien Fashion Show Stir

No need to introduce the now famous AIC, awesome album all around. Alien Fashion Show on the other hand is lesser known. I'll admit the album cover is what prompted me to buy it and give it a chance. It's more Jazz than rock but worth a listen nonetheless. Stir was a pleasant surprise, released in 1999, it has that polished post-grunge sound, and checks all the boxes with hits such as "New Beginning" and "Help". Its album cover depicting TV sets scattered on the beach is also one of the cooler ones.

Natalie Merchant Alanis Morissette Stone Temple Pilots

Natalie Merchant's debut album after leaving 10,000 Maniacs is one of 1995's best releases. Carnival quickly reached the top of the charts for its unique sound. Its two-tone cover is already iconic by most measures. Jagged Little Pill might as well be a best hit compilation, every song is a hit and received some radio air play. Again, the album cover with its mix of red, green and purple is a slam dunk. Stone Temple Pilots' album cover captures something so great I can't put it into words. Maybe it's the commercial logo, or the eerie lady in the background, either way it's a work of art.

4 Non Blondes Alice In Chains (Inside) The American Girls

4 Non Blondes has been unfairly labeled as a one-hit wonder. I don't think that's necessarily true. Sure, they only have one hit, but I would argue that the entire album is great. The album cover art of course rivals Dali's best work. The second picture of the inside view of Alice In Chains' album cover. I thought it was worth mentioning since a lot of effort was put into it. Last but definitely not least, 1999's big breakthrough band "The American Girls". I don't know how they have not gone mainstream yet, every song on that CD is a certified hit. My personal favorite is track 10 "In Static".

Jason Mraz Filter

Jason Mraz's Waiting For My Rocket To Come is 2003's high note. "The Remedy" (track 3) is an undeniably catchy tune. The album cover here is simply Jason Mraz sitting on the curb, talking to a rooster, allegedly waiting for his rocket to come, and it works. Filter has been around since 1995, this is their latest cleverly titled "Title Of Record". Again, it's one of these CDs where every track is good but my favorites are "Take A Picture", "Miss Blue", and "The Best Things". What can I say about the album cover, it's blue and orange, and I guess that's enough to reel you in.
